The Canton Fair in Guangzhou can be called a showcase of the Chinese economic miracle. Here ideas are born, new technologies are demonstrated and trends are set. Annually, over 24 thousand Chinese and foreign companies take part in it as exhibitors, and more than 195 thousand people from all over the world become visitors. But life is making its own adjustments ... China is in the grip of a terrible epidemic, quarantine and preventive measures, restrictions on entry and mass events are introduced.
So what will happen to the Canton Fair in 2020?
Initially, the start of the first exhibition stage was scheduled for April 15, 2020. At the moment, by order of the Ministry of Commerce of Guangdong Province, the work of Canton Fair Complex - the largest exhibition venue in the world (1.131 million sq. m.) has been stopped and the event has been postponed indefinitely.
Guangdong Province ranks second in the prevalence of coronavirus disease in China, after Zhejiang provinces. According to statistics, over 1,100 cases of infection have been registered there, and this figure continues to increase.
The RAUIE as the only official representative of the Canton Fair in Russia also suspends all promotional events in the Russian Federation. In particular, it was decided to cancel the next conference: “Cooperation with China as an engine for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises” scheduled for March in Voronezh.
Earlier, presentations of the Canton Fair and teleconference with the exhibition executives were regularly held in the Russian regions, this allowed to inform the audience and expand opportunities for Russian companies and entrepreneurs engaged in foreign economic activity. The events were successfully held in: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok, etc., the last conference was held in Krasnoyarsk.
