Registration at the place of stay of foreign citizens arriving in Russia is required. At the same time, the host party, according to the law, must notify the territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation about the location of the citizen. If the data was not submitted on time, then the foreigner could face not only a substantial fine, but even deportation. Foreign citizens must register for migration no later than seven calendar days from the moment of their arrival.
When can a foreign citizen register at his place of residence in Russia?
All foreigners who come to the territory of the Russian Federation cannot just live and even more so work in the country. They must apply for a temporary registration.
Foreigners often think that they can register in any room. For example, labor migrants believe that they will be able to do this in their employer's workplace. Registration is possible only in a residential area, which must have full bathrooms. At the same time, it is impossible to register a foreign citizen without the consent of the property owner.
Where to go to register?
To obtain temporary registration, you can contact the following authorities:
- Territorial department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
- Multifunctional centers (MfSCs) - personally or thruoght the electronic platform
In addition to an application from a foreign citizen, for temporary registration in the Russian Federation, you will also need to provide the following documents:
- Notification form
- Passport of a foreign citizen with copies of all pages
- Migration card and its copy
- Copy of visa
- Data confirming the right to use the premises provided to a foregner
- Agreement between the employer and the foreign citizen
- Data confirming family ties if a foreigner is temporarily registered with relatives
Most often, difficulties for foreigners arise with the preparation of a notification form. It contains quite serious requirements and it is better to contact a lawyer who will help draw it up correctly.
The host party should also provide some documents:
- If this is a legal entity, then you will need: TIN, certificate of state registration, information from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, a notification from the Federal State Statistics Service, a passport of company's head, an employment contract with a foreigner, a lease agreement or a certificate of ownership
Important! Registration of foreign citizens by an employer is possible only if the legal entity having received accreditation as an employer for migrants coming to Russia.
- If the host party is an individual: a copy of Russian passport, a notification of arrival, a certificate of ownership of a residential property.
What happens if you don't register?
A foreign person who arrives in Russia and has not submitted an application for the issuance of temporary registration is considered an offender and state sanctions are applied to him.
There are two types of punishments for a foreign citizen:
- a fine in the amount of 2 to 5 thousand rubles
- Deportation. When deported outside Russia, a ban on entry is imposed for five years.
