2022-2023 will become a breakthrough for Chinese investment in Russia

On November 9, 2021, the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, in partnership with the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, held a round table "Russian-Chinese investment cooperation in a pandemic." The event was held in a hybrid format, more than 100 people took part in it.



Vice-president of the RAUIE, Maxim Kuznetsov noted that the volume of Chinese investments exceeded $ 50 billion, but a significant increase in investments will occur in 2022-2023. That will be associated with the implementation of the Arctic LNG-2 project and the likely participation of Chinese partners in the Vostok-Oil project, the roadshow of which took place today. Also, Maxim Kuznetsov noted a number of non-resource projects, including the attraction of financing by Uchi.ru (RAUIE member) in RCIF. In addition, there is a prospect for the participation of Chinese institutional investors in a number of IPOs, including the IPO of the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange.

Sergey Kotelnikov, Head of the RAUIE investment deveopment Center  noted that the main problem of Russian projects is their low elaboration quality. “The Chinese investor wants to clearly understand how he will return his investments. So you need to initially propose a project that answers this question and provides a preliminary market analysis, on the basis of which you can calculate your financial flows. At the same time, Chinese investors are more interested in exports to China than selling products on the Russian market. "
