On March 11, at 12:00, a closed online meeting "Scientific and technical cooperation between Russia and China as a driver of innovative development in the post-like period" was held. Representatives of the RAUIE, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Russian Federation, the Irkutsk Region Development Corporation, the Union of Western and Eastern Education (UWEE), the Irkutsk State University (ISU) and Skolkovo Innovation Center took part in the event as expert speakers.
The speakers stressed more than once that in recent years there has been a dynamic development of relations between Russia and China. Contacts and connections, including in knowledge-intensive industries, are becoming closer, interregional cooperation is growing. Russian-Chinese relations are experiencing the best period in their history.
The prospective areas of cooperation included ecology, energy efficiency (including the creation of new materials and increasing productivity in the industrial sector), medicine, biotechnology and education. Vitaly Mankevich, President of the RAUIE, focused on the fact that the implementation of projects in the sectors of eco- and biotechnology can help non-resource and non-energy exports to reach a new level and attract foreign investment.
The participants also noted that the experience of jointly combating the epidemic has turned into a powerful driving force in relations between Russia and China, making it possible to correctly understand the challenges, risks and chances, and trace their consequences. During the difficult pandemic period, the Russian-Chinese partners switched to online business sessions, the effect of which is not so great, but the dialogue was not interrupted, which made it possible to achieve positive results.
As a result of the conference, cooperation agreements were signed between the RAUIE and ISU and between the Union of Western and Eastern Education and ISU. The parties intend to establish a long-term trusting partnership, implement mutually beneficial projects and support the vector of dynamic relations between Russia and China.
