Business session at the Expocentre

On March 28, a business session "Features of importing different categories of consumer goods from China" was held at Expocentre on Krasnaya Presnya, organized by the All-Russian public organization "Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs" (RAUIE) and Mayer Group.

The RAUIE and Mayer have been jointly organizing events for entrepreneurs for some time now, where they can discuss the current issues of specific categories of imports. This time, the discussion covered a wide range of consumer goods - in line with the expansion of exhibitions taking place at Expocentre during this period.

Participants were able to delve into the nuances of purchasing goods for the home, appliances, cosmetics and household chemicals, pet products, and other categories from China.

Speakers discussed specific cases and offered solutions to issues, including payment processing, simplifying shipping, legal and financial risks when dealing with Chinese counterparts.

Experts from the RAUIE and representatives from relevant organizations, many of which are members of the RAUIE, shared insights on where to find suppliers in the desired niche, how to check them, how to avoid common mistakes, which delivery method is best for a particular category, how to properly handle paperwork, and how to conduct payments more effectively and securely in current conditions. They also discussed how to build relationships with Chinese partners and negotiate effectively in intercultural communication settings, as well as support measures available and how to promote and sell products.

"China is currently Russia's main trading partner. However, due to the complex global situation, participants in foreign economic activity regularly face questions that need to be promptly addressed for normal business operations. This is one of the tasks of the RAUIE, and for discussing practical solutions to urgent problems, we have brought together experts from various fields," said Ksenia Alexandrova, the event's moderator.

"In 2023, exports from China to Russia increased by 47%, and the trade turnover between the two countries reached a record $240 billion. It's not surprising that Russian businesses are highly interested in avoiding mistakes when dealing with a relatively new partner with unfamiliar laws and a unique business culture," noted Georgiy Ryabtsev, Director of Business Development with China at Bellerage.
