On December 18, the Victory Museum hosted the grand opening of the Art and Peace art exhibition, organized jointly with the Chinese Association of Artists. The temporary exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China
Mr. Zhang Hanhui took part in the grand opening of the exhibition:
“Art allows us to better understand each other. Chinese artists have always absorbed the best from around the world and embodied this in their works, with these paintings we want to show how the Chinese people strive for life. Next year we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. This is history, this is the new spirit of strategic partnership between China and Russia. That is why we will do our best to remember the friendship of our peoples, our history, our Victory, ” the diplomat emphasized.
The President of the RAUIE, Vitaliy Mankevich, made a welcoming speech:
“President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of trust in the modern economy. Without trust, without Russian-Chinese humanitarian cooperation, it is impossible to develop a long-term partnership. To start cooperation with China, you must first become a friend, and friendship is formed on the basis of shared values, and art helps our peoples become more open to each other. Russian-Chinese cultural projects have been and will continue to be the driver of the development of bilateral dialogue between our countries.”
“The Soviet Union was the first state in the world to recognize the People’s Republic of China. All these years, our countries have been linked by a constant interest in each other's achievements, culture and traditions, an interest that mutually enriched and developed our peoples,” said
Alexander Shkolnik, director of the Victory Museum.
The exhibition features 40 paintings, graphic and sculptural works of leading Chinese masters. Visitors saw lyrical landscapes and colorful still lifes, delicate watercolors and vibrant graphics, hyper-realistic paintings and traditional Chinese painting.
The exhibition not only shows the development of contemporary Chinese art, but also demonstrates a special Chinese perspective on countries of different continents.
Since the opening in 2016, the exhibition has been successfully demonstrated at the EU headquarters in Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Great Britain, Georgia, Greece, Malta, Spain and the Czech Republic.
