Experts see high potential for export development in the Chelyabinsk region

28 February 2022

The Chelyabinsk region ranks first in the Ural Federal District in terms of exports. Since 2018, the region has been actively increasing the export of agricultural products. It has increased by 60% in three years. The Chelyabinsk region is expanding the list and geography of the supplied products. Today, 99 types of agricultural products are sent to 39 countries of the world.

According to Inna Podshivalova, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region, as of the end of 2021, the region supplied food worth about $179.4 million to foreign markets.

And this is not the final figure. The data will be updated in March 2022. However, we already see that the export plan has been overfulfilled, - said Inna Podshivalova.

Large volumes of products are sent to Asian countries. China is among them. It remains the world's second largest importer of agricultural products after the United States.

Klim Komarov, Chairman of the RAUIE Committee on the Agricultural Market, founder of Agroexport 168, sees a high potential in the development of exports in the Chelyabinsk region. As the leading Russian poultry farms are located here.

In addition, the products volumes of the highest quality make it possible not only to fully meet domestic demand, but also to increase exports, - said Klim Komarov.
