This year, Russian-Indonesian cooperation celebrates a round date – the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between the republics. For these purposes, the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Association of Exporters and Importers, and the Embassy of Indonesia in Russia organized a conference on the development of new vectors of business cooperation.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mohamada Wahida Supriadi, delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that Russia is one of Indonesia’s important partners. “According to trade statistics, the total volume of bilateral trade between Indonesia and Russia in 2019 reached 2.45 billion US dollars, while Russia is interested in developing non-primary non-energy exports. The areas of cooperation between Russia and Indonesia range from trade, industry, investment, transport and infrastructure, information technology and telecommunications, banking and finance to space, ”said the ambassador.
Maxim Kuznetsov, Vice-President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs spoke about the problems that Indonesian business faces in Russia: “First of all, this lack of the russian business culture knowledge and local legislation, as well as difficulties in finding a local partner. To solve these problems, the RAUIE has developed educational programs for foreigners, which allows to study all the subtleties of business in the Russian Federation. “Based on our experience, we also help entrepreneurs from Indonesia find and verify a counterparty.”
Rainer Prakuso Tobing, business development director; Anuger Pertivi Mandiri, deputy chairman for the industrial sector of the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Indonesia; Vyacheslav Polenov, director of an investment company, official importer of cretek in Russia; Fiska Purvandani, co-owner of Trustko Madani Indoleb, also took part in the event.
During the session, issues of Russian-Indonesian cooperation in the digital era were raised. Participants discussed the challenges that business communities face in the context of the digital technologies spread. The parties worked out joint decisions to increase trade between Russia and Indonesia.
