RAUIE Chairman shares forecast on growth of companies with Russian capital on Hainan

A roundtable titled "Hainan Free Trade Port: Preferences and Prospects for Russian Business with RAUIE's Infrastructure Support" was held in Moscow. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Export Centre, State Duma deputies, business leaders, and experts.

RAUIE Chairman Vitaly Mankevich, in a comment to Sputnik, shared his forecast on the growth of companies with Russian capital on the island.

Current dynamics:

• By April 2024, about 270 enterprises with Russian capital had been registered on Hainan.
• After the introduction of the Free Trade Port (FTP) regime, 15–20 such companies are registered each month.
• At present, their number is estimated at approximately 450 legal entities.

Forecast by the end of 2026:

"By the end of the year, another 100–150 new companies with Russian capital will be added, bringing the total to 500–600 by December," said Mankevich.

Long‑term forecast:

• In three years (by mid‑2029) – 1,200–1,600 legal entities with Russian participation.
• In five years – 2,200–3,000 companies.

According to the RAUIE Chairman, the "snowball effect" will take hold: companies from Russia that came earlier will create a service infrastructure – law firms, accounting, banking support, marketplace aggregators – which will lower the entry threshold for new arrivals.

State Duma Deputy Nikolay Buduev emphasised: "The Hainan FTP is a new window of opportunity for us. It is a chance for Russian enterprises not only to increase trade but also to develop value chains. Tools like the Hainan FTP are exactly what turn contacts into contracts."

The Hainan Free Trade Port is a special customs regime covering the entire island – China's largest new‑type economic zone, aimed at systematic liberalisation by 2050.
