On January 14, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines held a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Carlos Soretta, Vice Consul Mary Grace Perpetua with the executives of the RAUIE, represented by President of the Union Vitaly Mankevich, Vice Presidents Maxim Kuznetsov and Alexey Palchikov and Head of Special Projects Department Syuzanna Mkrtchyan.
The topic of the meeting was the formation of a platform for Russian-Philippine business cooperation on the RAUIE basis , which will simplify doing business with the Philippines for Russian business. Vitaly Mankevich noted that trade between the countries is developing, and the RAUIE could help businesses find partners, carry out their verification and provide assistance.
The agenda also included the establishment of Russian-Philippine partnerships through government bodies. Vitaly Mankevich suggested creating public and legislative events with representatives of the authorities. “We can discuss legislative issues with both the State Duma and the Moscow City Duma, as well as at RAUIE meetings in firmat of the round table or expert council to work out decisions. Our deputies could take control of the problematic aspects and points of interaction in the framework of bilateral relations, ” noted the president of the association.
The Ambassador of the Philippines to the Russian Federation noted that over the past 3 years, trade between Russia and the Philippines has more than doubled. "Philippine businessmen are interested in importing Russian oil and oil products, pulp and paper products, fertilizers, copper-nickel alloys, steel, grain. In turn, the Philippines can offer to export coconut products, tropical fruits and seafood, and we also hope to import coffee, chocolate and alcohol, ” said the Ambassador.
In response, Vitaly Mankevich proposed the creation of a Russian-Philippine business platform on the RAUIE basis, which will inform business about trade and investment requests, as well as conduct an information exchange about upcoming events, including exhibitions and business conferences in both countries.
The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the field of tourism. In 2019, tourism in the Philippines was chosen by 37,000 Russians, which is 35% higher than last year's figure. The RAUIE will assist in promoting the tourism potential of the Philippines.
