The Chairman of the RAUIE met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation.

In the central Moscow office of the RAUIE, the Chairman of the Union, Vitaly Mankevich, welcomed the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Russian Federation, Ms. Shobini Gunasekera. Ms. Shobini Gunasekera has been in Moscow for several months, and Vitaly Mankevich congratulated her on her appointment.

The meeting was an important event in the context of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. It took place in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and a desire for cooperation.

The main objectives of the meeting were:

• Strengthening economic ties: discussing opportunities for joint promising business projects and investments aimed at developing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
• Cultural cooperation: exchanging experiences in the fields of culture and education.
• Political dialogue: discussing current issues of international politics and security.

As mentioned, during the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for trade development between Russia and Sri Lanka. Vitaly Mankevich proposed a number of initiatives aimed at increasing mutual trade volumes, including:

• Establishing joint ventures.
• Simplifying business procedures.
• Organizing exhibitions and fairs.

Cultural cooperation also became an important topic of discussion. The Sri Lankan Ambassador emphasized the significance of cultural exchanges for strengthening friendship between the peoples. Vitaly Mankevich suggested organizing festivals to showcase the traditions and arts of both countries.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope for further cooperation and the development of partnerships in various fields.
