On January 16, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, a meeting was held between the RAUIE executives and the director of the First Department of Asia of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Zinoviev and the head of the department for the development of economic and humanitarian cooperation with China, Alexander Chernousov.
As a result of the meeting, a solution was worked out, according to which the RAUIE will send inquiries about business problems to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this way, members of the association will be able to receive feedback and support from the Ministry.
President of the RAUIE Vitaly Mankevich noted that over the past year, the Union has significantly expanded the geography of work with Asian countries: cooperation with South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and Vietnam is developing. “At the end of the year, we summed up the “ Turn to the East ” in foreign economic policy. In 2019, we also held a plenary meeting of the Russian-Chinese Peace, Friendship and Development Committee in Beijing. Last year, as part of an intergovernmental commission led by Boris Titov, we visited Vietnam. This year we set a goal to bring our organization to the all-Russian level. We want to know what proposals and requests the the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has.”
A significant role in the working meeting was assigned to increasing the trade turnover of the Russian Federation and China: “If we want to solve the trade problem, we need to increase it for 20% each year. Now the export of agricultural products is growing. We are currently in the process of concluding a memorandum that will allow us to export Russian beef to China. The Chinese ambassador to Russia said he was going to hold a seminar on cooperation in the field of agricultural trade. I hope this helps to move towards real measures of achieving goals,” Zinoviev noted.
During the meeting the mutual settlements between Russian and Chinese companies were disscused. To solve this problem, it was decided to attract member banks of the RAUIE: Bank "Solidarnost", APB, RFI Bank, Otkritie, as well as legal member companies: Dentons, Pepelyaev Group, DHH. In turn, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promised to connect the relevant departments to establish cooperation.
