Business Russia, in cooperation with the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RAUIE) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, held a webinar on doing business in Hong Kong.
The moderator and initiator of the webinar was Valery Kalyuzhny, Business Ambassador of Delovaya Rossiya in Hong Kong. Among the invited speakers, Maxim Kuznetsov, Vice President of the RAUIE, made a presentation on the topic “Russia and Hong Kong: opportunities and prospects for business in 2021”. At the beginning of the report, he noted that Hong Kong occupies a leading position in the ranking of Chinese regions in terms of ease of doing business by Russian companies. This ranking takes into account 39 indicators, including the tax regime, economic development, the level of interaction with Russian businesses, etc. Maxim Kuznetsov also spoke about the existing 140-day visa-free regime between Russia and Hong Kong, about air traffic and about the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation.
According to Maxim Kuznetsov, the most prospective areas of cooperation with Hong Kong are finance and investment, export and import of goods, as well as exhibitions.
Leonid Orlov, Head of the Representative Office of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Moscow spoke about the practice of using Hong Kong in sourcing, export and service solutions. Vladimir Nagin, partner of the venture capital fund Witherton, presented his report on the Hong Kong startup ecosystem. Evgeny Bazhov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Financial and Banking Association for Eurasian Cooperation in China and Hong Kong, made a presentation “Hong Kong as a springboard for expansion into Greater China”.
