On April 8, RAUIE, together with the Canton Fair executives, held a conference dedicated to the opening of the 131st spring session of the Canton Fair for Russian entrepreneurs.
Vice-President of the RAUIE Alexey Klimovich Liu opened the event with a welcoming speech: “Commodity turnover between Russia and China is constantly growing. A significant role in this belongs to the Canton Fair. RAUIE, as the official representative of the Canton Fair in the Russian Federation, expresses its support to event leaders and organizers. Participants of the Canton Fair will have the opportunity to remotely visit production facilities and discuss business details online. By visiting the Canton Fair, you can find out the financial, logistical, legal features of doing business with China. Our Union provides all the necessary assistance to entrepreneurs in doing business with China. We pay special attention to the textile industry, as 35% of the world's textile and clothing production comes from China.”
Ms. Pu Hui Chan, Head of the Canton Fair, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Canton Fair and Deputy General Manager of the International Relations Department of the China Foreign Trade Center, delivered the latest news of the 131st Canton Fair: “The Canton Fair has been an important platform for international trade cooperation for 65 years. Through the Canton Fair platform, buyers from all over the world can contact exhibitors around the clock.”
The head of the Canton Fair also outlined the event scale in numbers: 50 exhibition areas, 60,000 booths and about 25,000 exhibitors, 20 large multinational enterprises, 472 branded enterprises. “Russia and China are neighbors linked by geographic location and a long history of friendly relations. Bilateral trade cooperation between China and Russia is steadily developing, and the scale of trade is expanding. Trade volume was $146 billion, up 35% from the previous year. China has been Russia's largest trading partner for 12 years in a row,” said Ms. Pu.
Kirill Sergashov, Deputy Director of the Department for Investment Policy and SME Development of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, noted the need to adapt to new conditions, as well as to develop measures to support Russian business. “The main trend is to further establish cooperation with Asian countries, primarily with China. It is necessary to open up new opportunities for cooperation with Chinese partners in those niches that are freed up due to the sanctions, to build new business models for working with new suppliers and buyers. The Canton Fair reveals the potential of Chinese manufacturers,” said Kirill Sergashov.
The main part of the conference was dedicated to the Chinese textile companies' presentations. They talked about the categories of goods produced, showed production and product samples in real time. Companys' epresentatives answered the questions of Russian entrepreneurs about the conditions for conducting a joint business.
