At the AGROINDEX conference of the international agroindustrial exhibition AGORORUS 2021 (September 2-3, St. Petersburg), the chairman of the RAUIE Committee on the agricultural market, shareholder "AGROEXPORT 168" (AE168) Klim Komarov took part in the session "Export of agricultural products - prospective directions", where spoke about the Russian agro-industrial complex potential on the Asian markets. The event is supported by the government of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
At the conference, representatives of government agencies, business communities and consulting agencies discussed prospective directions for the development of agricultural products, export opportunities, new markets, sales formats, as well as government support measures.
Klim Komarov spoke about the export potential of Leningrad region's agricultural products, drawing attention to the favorable factors for the industry development: meat production growth in the region, poultry farms availability, bird flu absence.
“We work with many producers of chicken meat in Russian regions. The main supplies are carried out through the port of St. Petersburg and go in transit through European ports, which increases the cost of services. For Russian exporters who want to improve the regional economy and increase the competitiveness of Russian products, solving the transport problem is extremely important, ” said Klim Komarov, chairman of the RAUIE Committee on the Agricultural Market. According to him, the solution could be the development of state programs that will support this initiative.
Due to the large volumes of products exported from Europe, and, consequently, the high demand for transport services, the cost of transportation from the ports of St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga significantly exceeds the cost of a similar delivery, for example, through the southern port. This affects the Russia products competitiveness in international markets, as well as the profits of exporters depending on their geographic location. Today, Russian companies are forced to cooperate with Western sea cargo transport companies and port terminals, since there are no similar companies in the North-West region. Also, there is no direct sea communication between the Russian Federation and Asian countries, with the exception of the Far East, the capacity of which is limited.
At the end of his speech, Klim Komarov thanked the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, the Government of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region for their support and holding such important events.
