On July 27, the Zoom online platform hosted a webinar entitled "Trade with India in 2021: How to bring products to the market and build a brand in India". It was organized by the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in cooperation with the Moscow Export Center.
The webinar was moderated by Alok Kumar, Chairman of the Akis Tech Ltd group. At the beginning of the meeting, he said that India, which ranks the 4th economy in the world, is a strategic partner of Russia, therefore, the development of business by Russian companies with India can bring many opportunities to both parties.
A welcoming speech was given to Asim Vohra, First Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Department of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Moscow. First of all, he noted the impact of the pandemic on trade between the two countries, but said that despite the trade drop activity of the two countries in 2020 showed a significant growth. Asim Vohra expressed hope for further cooperation development between Russia and India. He also noted the need to hold an investment protection agreement between Russia and India.
Maxim Kuznetsov, Vice-President of the RAUIE, presented his report on the topic: “Strategies of Russian companies when entering the Indian market. Typical difficulties and mistakes ”. He said that Russian business has a huge potential for trade with India, but it has not yet been fully disclosed. In his report, Maxim Kuznetsov spoke about cultural characteristics such as language, caste system, religion, which must be taken into account when doing business in India, and also shared recommendations for those who want to build a business with India.
Vitaly Stepanov, Director General of ANO MEC, spoke about the measures that the Moscow Export Center is taking to stimulate Russian companies when entering the Indian market. The MEC provides both financial (subsidies and grants) and non-financial measures (training events, consultations) to support exporters, helping them to fully or partially reduce the cost of transporting goods and placing them on well-known marketplaces, as well as providing assistance in concluding export contracts when carrying out business missions and exhibitions.
Olga Kulikova, one of the business ambassadors of Business Russia in India, spoke about the specifics of doing business in India for foreigners. She focused on small and medium-sized businesses, since it is more difficult for them to build their business abroad.
Manish Kumar, President of the Soltex Group, made a presentation titled “Business introduction tactics and current prospective niches for business in India”. In his opinion, one of the most prospective niches for doing business in India is the consumer market. He also classified oil products, aviation, complex chemical products, pharmaceuticals, and timber as prospective directions for export to India.
Shuttle-logistics CEO Nikita Kazarinov presented his report "Features of logistics chain organization when exporting to India 2021". He demonstrated the structure of Russian exports to India using the example of 2020. In addition, the main package of documents required for exporting companies was named.
