On July 26, a press conference "Deepening Chinese reforms in a new era - global opportunities" took place at the Media Center of the Russian Gazette.
From the Chinese side, the event was attended by Shen Haisun - Chairman of the China Media Corporation and Zhang Hanhui - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Russian Federation.
From the Russian side, the speakers were Vitaly Mankevich - Chairman of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Ivan Melnikov - First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Stanislav Prokofiev - Rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, and Andrey Denisov - First Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Federation Council on International Affairs.
The main topics for discussion were:
- the outcomes of the third plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China;
- the main directions and comprehensive deepening of Chinese reforms;
- promoting the modernization of China and opportunities for neighboring countries.
Vitaly Mankevich noted:
"I believe that as consumer demand in China recovers, opportunities will expand for other countries to supply high-quality products with high added value to China. Therefore, there is no doubt that practically all exporting countries are interested in the recovery of consumer demand. This primarily concerns Russian businesses: we are determined to significantly increase the share of non-energy non-raw material business in our exports to China, increase the share of small and medium-sized businesses, and without the necessary pace of recovery in China's consumer demand, it will be difficult to achieve this. I am confident that in cooperation with Russia and other partners focused on mutually beneficial cooperation, the Chinese government and people will find it much easier to implement their plans."
