On October 28, 2022, the II International GR Forum was held in Moscow at the Zvezdy Arbat Hotel. This year it was held as part of the GR Business Days forum.
This year, the International GR Forum was dedicated to the turn to the East prospects and the promotion of Russian companies on the international market in the face of existing restrictions. The business program of the International GR Forum included the best cases and expert reports from leading GR-specialists and managers from various business sectors of Russian and foreign companies.
In turn, the key topics of Legal GR Force 2022 this year were the sanctions agenda and business support during the economic crisis. The experts discussed the effectiveness of the measures taken by the government, the consequences of legislative changes, as well as new strategies for business communications with authorities in the current realities
Within the framework of the section “Sanction limit. Primary and Secondary Consequences of Sanctions” was delivered by Yury Volkov, Chairman of the RAUIE Expert Council. The main points of discussion were the following questions
Are support measures efficient enough?
Are there significant changes to the law?
Timing and horizon of consequences for the economy.
Yuri Volkov: It should be noted that in response to the sanctions, our government adopted a number of anti-crisis, protective measures that have demonstrated their efficiency. This is evidenced by several key indicators: a gradual recovery in domestic demand, a slowdown in inflation and low unemployment rates, despite the exit of a significant number of foreign companies. In the current situation, it is not necessary to count on a sharp improvement in relations with unfriendly states and the lifting of sanctions; moreover, the escalation of economic tensions has a detrimental effect on the global economy as a whole. In this regard, the best options for Russia are the expansion of business support measures, as well as the reorientation of export and import supplies to the eastern direction.
