On July 10, 2025, a business meeting was held at the central Moscow office of the RAUIE with representatives of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Moscow.
Purpose of the meeting: to develop mechanisms for increasing the flow of skilled labor migrants from Sri Lanka to Russia and to establish a transparent employment system.

From the Russian side:
- Shingarov Sh.Sh. – Chairman of the Committee on Migration Policy and Labor Legislation of RASSPP
- Tarala A.A. – Advisor to the RAUIE Chairman
From the Sri Lankan side:
- Chamil Jeyaratne – Minister of the Sri Lankan Embassy
- Vikremasinghe Kosala – Head of the Overseas Employment Bureau
- Hettiarachchi Ananda Lal – Chairman of the Overseas Employment Agency
- Alvis Vidanalaghe Amila Prasad – Consular officer at the Sri Lankan Embassy
Current statistics:
Since 2024, Sri Lanka has directed over 300,000 workers abroad.
In Russia, 1,120 specialists have arrived, working in various sectors of the economy.

Agreements reached:
Sri Lanka will cover the costs of training personnel:
- Visa and airline ticket arrangements
- Language school training (including basic Russian)
The RAUIE will ensure:
- Legal employment
- Assistance with obtaining permits and documents
Prospects for cooperation:
- Creating a stable channel for attracting qualified labor force to Russia
- Simplifying employment procedures through a centralized selection system
- Developing economic and business ties between Russia and Sri Lanka
